With tandem cycling Rob has rediscovered the determination and motivation which ranked him number one in the world for two decades at three distances on the running track. Rob’s realistic ambition now is to win a medal for New Zealand in the London Paralympic Games in 2012
In April at the New Zealand National Road Cycling Championships in Hawkes Bay with his Pilot Justin Kerr, Rob completed the 25km time trial in 31 minutes 55 seconds ranking him in the World’s top 5 visually impaired cyclists. On 18th June, Rob was selected to compete for New Zealand in August’s World Paralympic Cycling Championships in Quebec, Canada.
To accomplish this goal he needs as many cycling training partners as possible to do the long training rides, speed work and hill sessions on the tandem. If you are a competent cyclist and are willing and able to help, please contact Rob on 0212236111 or by by email robmatthewsmbe@vodafone.co.nz
The World Championships in Quebec this August are self-financed. To achieve his dream of becoming a Paralympic Gold medallist for New Zealand, Rob will require sponsorship. If you are interested in helping Rob in a mutually beneficial partnership achieve international glory for New Zealand, please contact Rob Matthews directly on 0212236111 or email robmatthewsmbe@vodafone.co.nz to discuss a beneficial sponsorship agreement.
